Preview: Nam Hwa Blazes 《万紫千红》(September 2019) by Nam Hwa Opera

Nam Hwa Opera’s quarterly FREE outreach series Nam Hwa Blazes is back this September for a very special edition. Taking place at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre this Saturday, they’ll be presenting “Drums, Tunes, Children and Rhyme”,  with 4 music pieces by Nam Hwa Opera’s Teochew Music Ensemble, along with 6 songs by Nam Hwa’s Pharyngeal Singing student, all taught by renowned Chinese musician Wu Kun,.

This edition of Nam Hwa Blazes is also set to present 5 different opera performances by Nam Hwa’s junior actors aged 2 to 14, while audience members can even try out the Teochew “大鼓” (Big Drum) and snap photos with the cast. Take this chance to spend a Saturday afternoon indulging completely in Teochew music and opera from one of the foremost companies in Singapore keeping the tradition alive, completely free. 

Nam Hwa Blazes takes place on 7th September 2019, 2.30pm at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. Admission is free with registration by emailing, calling +65 6904 0030 or filling in the form here
