
It was a night of splendour at the Singapore Gala Premiere of feature film AJOOMMA 《花路阿朱妈》. The first Singapore-Korea co-produced feature film held the star-studded event at Capitol Theatre this evening.
From the AJOOMMA team were the film’s producer, award-winning filmmaker Anthony Chen, first-time feature Director He Shuming, actors Hong Hui Fang, Kang Hyung-suk and Shane Pow.

Other celebrities present at the Gala Premiere to lend their support for the film included Fann Wong, Yeo Yann Yann, Benjamin Kheng, Elvin Ng, Romeo Tan, Chen Tian Wen, Yvonne Lim, Shaun Chen, Zhang Yao Dong, Cynthia Koh, Jeffrey Xu, Felicia Chin, Thomas Ong, Chantalle Ng, Chen Hanwei, Huang Biren, He Yong Fang, Benjamin Tan, Chen Xiuhuan, Tay Ying, Denise Camillia Tan, Calvert Tay, Zheng Geping, Sora Ma, Tang Miaoling and Cassandra See.
Local directors Eric Khoo, Royston Tan, Boo Junfeng, Tan Pin Pin, Lee Thean-jeen, Ong Kuo Sin and Boi Kwong were also present at the event.
Minister for Communications and Information Mrs Josephine Teo graced the Gala Premiere as Guest-of-Honour. South Korea’s Ambassador to Singapore Mr Choi Hoon and IMDA Chairman Chan Yeng Kit were also in attendance. Minister Josephine Teo said, “Films like AJOOMMA have the power to move us. I am glad the Government had supported its making through the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s New Director grant. As Singaporeans, we are naturally very proud that it is achieving international acclaim. But regardless of whether it wins any awards, it deserves our recognition as an exceptionally well-made film with a Singapore heart and a Korean soul.”

Mr Choi Hoon, South Korea’s Ambassador to Singapore also added, “It is awesome to see the first Singapore-Korea coproduced film screened in both countries. It will be a cornerstone for the people of both nations to deepen their understanding of one another. In the years to come, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea will continue to help filmmakers and the film industry collaborate.”
Actors Hong Hui Fang, Kang Hyung-suk, Director He Shuming and Producer Anthony Chen will be making special visits at various cinemas to meet members of the public who catch the sneak preview sessions this Saturday, 22 October (1:40PM GV Suntec, 3:00PM GV Plaza, and 4:45PM GV VivoCity) Tickets for these special AJOOMMA sneak sessions are on sale now at all Golden Village sales channels.
AJOOMMA had its Singaporean gala premiere on 19th October 2022. It will open in Singapore cinemas on 27th October, with sneak previews from 21st to 24th October.
