Pangdemonium! announces 2024 Season: #youwillbefound

As we lead-up to their production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods, their final production of 2023, Singapore’s most kickass theatre company Pangdemonium has revealed their line-up for 2024, as well as a chance to enjoy up to 27% off with their highly coveted Season Tickets.

A big part of Pangdemonium’s mission is to tell stories that take audiences on a collective journey of understanding shared human experiences. Through theatre, Pangdemonium aims to foster empathy, encourage individuals to see the world from different perspectives, and allow them to partake in the diverse experiences of others.

These stories champion the spirit of resilience, the will to survive, and ordinary individuals being extraordinary. As such, 2024’s theme, #youwillbefound, serves as a poignant reminder that, regardless of the difficulties or heartaches anyone encounters, no one should be alone in facing them. It emphasizes the significance of sharing their struggles, even with just one person, which can lead to rediscovery and reconnection with the world around them.

The 2024 season commences in March with the highly anticipated revival of Falling by Deanna Jent. This play, which garnered unanimous acclaim and consistently sold out during its 2016 Pangdemonium run, has been in high demand for a revival. Now, seven years on, come witness the story of an ordinary family with extraordinary responsibilities.

Directed by Tracie Pang, for Tami and Bill, family life is a precarious balancing act as they bring up their two kids – Lisa, 16, all attitude and angst; and Josh, a profoundly autistic 18-year-old. When this delicate balance is shattered by the arrival of a visitor, it literally becomes a matter of life and death for this family. Come for this enlightening story that explores the lives of a misunderstood and marginalised minority in our community, and examines the meaning of unconditional love.

In June, the season continues with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? This modern classic is a captivating blend of dark comedy and a love story, pulling skeletons out of closets and forcing us to confront the lies we tell ourselves, revealing the hard truths about our primal capacity to hurt those we love the most, and how we deal with the harsh realities of life.

Directed by Timothy Koh, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? follows middle-aged, unhappily married, and inebriated couple George and Martha stumbling home from a late-night party, when a couple arrives at their doorstep. Young, sexy, and new in town, the surprise guests – Nick and Honey – are everything that George and Martha are not. What follows is a rambunctious evening of dangerous mind games and madcap antics fuelled by drink and driven by spite-unravelling bitter rivalries and long-buried secrets.

As a grand finale to the season, Pangdemonium takes great pride in presenting the Asian premiere of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Dear Evan Hansen. Directed by Tracie Pang, the smash-hit has been adapted for film, and follows Evan Hansen, an ordinary 17-year-old kid, with extraordinary mental and emotional struggles, making life with his single mother a rollercoaster, and his school life a circus.

As he nurses a secret love for the unattainable Zoe Murphy, and forms dubious friendships, every day for Evan is filled with stress, anxiety, and loneliness. At least, until the fateful day he has a strange encounter with Zoe’s troubled brother Connor, and an out-of-control sequence of events transforms life for Evan – and everyone else, forever. Promising to move you in ways you never thought theatre could, Dear Evan Hansen reminds us all of the importance of taking care of youth mental health, the fragility of family, and the weaponization of social media.

With the Season Ticket, patrons get to enjoy all three shows next year, saving up to 27% off standard tickets. As Season Ticket holders, they also have the privilege of enjoying special perks such as the flexibility to change their bookings 48 hours before the performance date, priority booking before public sales, and personalised concierge services.
