Preview: SOLO/ORAY AAL by Singapore Indian Theatre and Film Explorers

As the saying goes, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough gets going’. Even in the midst of a pandemic, Singapore Indian Theatre and Film Explorers (S.I.T.F.E.) press on, and are finally ready to present SOLO/ORAY AAL, their first-ever bilingual monologue showcase that features 6 new and unique works of individuals on the collective theme FIGHT.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, people all over the world have been fighting for survival, in each one of us an undying hope that makes us get up and move forward. With that in mind, S.I.T.F.E. have decided to utilise the arts to bring and amplify that hope in the masses, with these six monologues inspired by the types of fights the invited writers faced in their lives or know of from others.

Bringing together both theatre veterans and new theatre practitioners, the monologues will be directed by Grace Kalaiselvi, Jeffrey Tan, Hemang Yadav, Rishi Budhrani, Peggy Ferroa and Saleem Hadi. With SOLO/PRAY AAL then, come hear these stories and take comfort in their resonance, as the performers reflect on the emotional, mental, physical and social states we are all in, where we are fighting an invisible enemy along with our own set of problems, and let the arts bring you hope.

SOLO/ORAY AAL plays from 3rd to 5th September 2021 at the Drama Centre Black Box. Tickets available from Peatix
