HONG KONG – 2021 is the year of NFTs. As NFT mania enters the global mainstream art scene, Poly Auction Hong Kong and The Authority are pleased to be launching its debut NFT exhibition and online auction. The exhibition is split into two shows. First, between October 7th – 15th, Poly Gallery Hong Kong hosted a solo show for NFT sensation Andreas Ivan to successfully launch his “Smoochies: MAETHERIAL” collection. Second, between October 22nd – November 9th, Pacific Place Hong Kong will host 11 internationally-renowned artists in a group show titled “Are you BORED or NOT?”. This show will feature a collection of brand new NFT creations by the 11 artists, each exploring the ‘Profile Picture NFT’ trend that is sweeping the NFT metaverse. Following the exhibition, between November 8th – November 12th, the NFT creations of Andreas Ivan and the 11 artists will be sold through Auction on the Poly Auction mobile app and WeChat mini programme.
“Are you BORED or NOT?” features a renowned 11 artist lineup including celebrated digital artists Jonathan Jay Lee, Jasper Wong, Andres Rivera/nook, Dave Arcade and Kongkee. The exhibtion will also feature up and coming local artists Chi-Kit Kwong, HOY and Viki Chan, alongside rising stars Lester Choy, Gaby Teresa and JUM.
The artists have each produced a self-defining Profile Picture NFT (“PFPNFT”) series. These PFPNFTs present two sides of the same subject: One is ‘BORED’, and one is ‘NOT BORED’ – this is a theme which is prevalent in the current NFT metaverse. Both ‘BORED’ and ‘NOT BORED’ PFPNFTs will be minted on the Ethereum blockchain. At the “Are you BORED or NOT?” exhibition, visitors will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase 50 Limited Edition Prints of the ‘BORED” PFPNFT creations. Buyers of the Prints will be entered into a lucky draw to win the 1 of 1 NFT version of their purchased artwork. All ‘NOT BORED’ creations will be open for auction from 8th to 12th November in the Poly Auction mobile app and WeChat mini programme.
Are you BORED or NOT? Exhibition runs from 15th – 22nd October 2021 (11:00 – 20:00) at Shop 100B, Level L1, Pacific Place (Near Dim Sum Library).
