It was a perfect take-off for the long-awaited blockbuster movie Top Gun: Maverick as it made its Singapore debut with a never-before-seen light, water and pyrotechnics extravaganza at the Event Plaza, Marina Bay Sands on 21st May.
Fans came out in droves to partake in the public fan event, which saw the integrated resort teaming up with United International Pictures (UIP) for a joy ride that lit the city skyline with a Top Gun-themed light and water show, alongside a dazzling display of pyrotechnics.

Top Gun: Maverick – A Light, Water & Pyrotechnic Extravaganza was a 10-minute, state-ofthe-art multimedia showcase that adapted Spectra, its nightly light and water show, for a special rendition that incorporated state-of-the-art lasers, lights and dynamic water effects with electrifying projections of scenes from the sequel. This visual display was set to the stirring Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack – from the iconic instrumental rock theme song to Lady Gaga’s new single “Hold My Hand”, a soaring anthem specially composed for the film.

The show-stopping spectacle also took to the skies as a first for the integrated resort, complementing the light and water show with a captivating orchestration of pyrotechnics that lit up the Marina Bay area. It was also the first such event to be staged at Marina Bay Sands since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Throughout the night, Marina Bay Sands illuminated the runway for the movie premiere with a stunning light-up of several landmarks across the property. Light projections inspired by the film were intricately tracked on the three cascading hotel towers and underbelly of Sands SkyPark, with the façade of ArtScience Museum also spotlighting the Top Gun: Maverick emblem.
“It is a privilege to further our partnership with entertainment powerhouse United International Pictures, as we co-piloted the launch of Top Gun: Maverick with a show-stopping public fan extravaganza. The integrated resort was transformed to showcase the best in entertainment, culminating in a milestone moment that saw us choreograph pyrotechnics alongside our light and water show for the first time. We look forward to creating more once-in-a-lifetime memories by returning to more live events, and showcasing Singapore’s status as a world-class entertainment destination,” said Marina Bay Sands’ Chief Operating Officer, Paul Town.
For members of the public who are still looking to get into the “danger zone”, on-theme bites and tipples will be available for one last spin on 22 May at selected outlets across the integrated resort including Bread Street Kitchen, Black Tap, LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, and Yardbird Southern Table & Bar.
Top Gun fans around the world can tune in to catch the recorded show on Marina Bay Sands and United International Pictures Singapore Facebook pages. For more information on Top Gun: Maverick – A Light, Water & Pyrotechnic Extravaganza, visit the website here.
