When we started our star rating system, The Theatre Practice (Practice) was the first company to receive a glowing five star review from us – for their 2020 production of historical epic and promenade theatre show Four Horse Road.

Alas, it was a production that was cut short before its time, with few people managing to catch it before Singapore entered its first islandwide circuit breaker, ending all live theatre productions. But come 2023, Practice has done the seemingly impossible, and is ready to bring Four Horse Road back to give audiences what they’ve missed for the last 3 years.

Returning this August, come down to Waterloo Street and take a step back in time to discover the vicinity’s storied, multicultural past. Wandering through shadowy corridors and back alleys, into strange rooms and outdoor restaurants, you’ll find yourself discovering and experiencing a bus hijack, a prison, CHIJ students on a ghost hunt, a police investigation and even a red light district, all based on the true history of Waterloo Street.

An unforgettable promenade theatre blockbuster of a show, Four Horse Road is bigger and better than before, and you’re invited to partake in this intimate experience, traversing 150 years of history staged across two heritage buildings. This is a theatrical journey unlike any other.
