Preview: Singapore Contemporary 2017
The second edition of the contemporary art convention, Singapore Contemporary takes place at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre from the 19th-22nd January 2017! Titled “A World Of Art”, Singapore Contemporary brings together artists, galleries and curators together for one weekend art show that promises to present an exceptional viewing experience for visitors.
The exhibition will include 88 regional and international exhibitors, along with 13 experiential art installations. Interested collectors, investors and visitors can take part in a variety of activities lined up, including talks, tours and even live painting demonstrations. Some of these art tours include those focusing on the Art of Southeast Asia, Contemporary Sculpture and even Best of Show of this year’s selections.
This year, the convention will present new features: Photo 17 Singapore and Latin American Voices. Photo 17 Singapore focuses on the importance of photography as a medium fast growing in respect, walkthroughs on creating art photography, as well as highlighting renowned photographers such as Daido Moriyama in an exhibition of works. Meanwhile, Latin American Voices features Latin American artists utilising long standing artistic traditions from the region, as well as sculpture from artists such as Pablo Atchugarry and Gustavo Velez.
Singapore Contemporary is a must visit for any art aficionado, or just those curious about the world of visual art, allowing for both an easy entry point for educating one’s self and a treasure trove for the discerning collector. Catch it this weekend before it’s gone for another year!
