Preview: Blue Elephant Theatre March Season
Located in Southeast London, the Blue Elephant Theatre seeks to produce new works across all genres in the performing arts, from physical theatre to dance, to nurturing new writers and reviving classics. This March, they’re bringing in two fringe-type works from up and coming companies Haste Theatre and Resuscitate Theatre, both playing for a limited time.
Oyster Boy by Haste Theatre
All-female theatre troupe Haste Theatre presents Oyster Boy on tour! Starting off in London at the Blue Elephant Theatre in Camberwell, Oyster Boy is based on Tim Burton’s short story of the same name, and follows the story of a boy born with the head of an oyster shell, and his parents’ struggle to raise him in a small beach town in the 1950s.
Winning multiple awards at various fringe festivals, this bittersweet dark comedy will be told through a mixture of live music, puppetry, physical comedy, dance, clown and story telling, and will remind us of the delicacy of life as it takes you by the hand and leads you into its sensitive, surreal and very funny world, full of unforgettable, larger-than-life characters. A timeless fairytale suitable for audiences of all ages.
Oyster Boy plays from 2- 3 March at 8pm at the Blue Elephant Theatre in London. To book tickets, either show up in person or call up their box office at (44) 020 7701 0100. Oyster Boy will go on tour thereafter, and you can find out if the production will be coming to a theatre near you here
