Germinal is a truly special show to come to SIFA this year. Imagining the theatre as a metaphor for human civilisation itself, the team behind Germinal play god and reconstruct the world from the very beginning of time itself. Utilising the magic of theatre, they invent the laws of physics, music, language and social interaction using only the most minimal of tools – guitars, pickaxes and mics.

As a deconstructionist performance, Germinal seeks to present theatre at its most basic, stripping away the big sets or gaudy costumes. Self-described as musicians, actors, philosophers, pranksters, artists and inventors who meld genres and upend codes, artists Goerger and Defoort will cleverly mix almost every medium of art and academia to present the world in a new light with Germinal, encouraging the audience to rethink our entire body of knowledge and look at it with brand new eyes.

Germinal will be performed in French with English surtitles at the SOTA Drama Theatre from 31st August – 2nd September. Tickets available here
