Level up your drinking game with the 2018 Singapore Cocktail Festival as it returns from 4th – 13th May! Over the 10 Day festival, celebrate cocktails fully, and expect to see some of the very best local and international bartenders in attendance, with over twenty five local bars, twenty artisanal spirit brands and twelve celebrity guest bartenders taking part in the festivities.
Opening the entire festival for one weekend will be the headlining #SGCF2018 Festival Village from 4th – 6th May, located at Empress Lawn with a perfect view of Singapore’s key landmarks. Look out for local bars such as Loof, Nutmeg & Clove and Smoke & Mirrors, while award-winning regional bartenders such Bob Louison from Pussyfoot Saloon (Seoul, South Korea) and Brian Lu from Woo Taipei (Taipei, Taiwan) will also be present. At the festival village, usher in the return of the Artisanal Spirits Tasting Room, which features handcrafted small-batch spirits to sample, such as the world’s only Pure Milk Vodka brand Black Cow Vodka, and Mekhong, The Spirit of Thailand, created through a secret production process passed down from generation to generation.
Not only will you get to drink cocktails, you’ll also get a chance to educate yourself about the intricacies of creating these drinks, with Festival Workshops, such as Kyrö Distillery Company’s Gin Blending Workshop, and the TGIF (Thank God Its Fermented) workshop led by guest bartender Sasha Wijidessa of Operation Dagger, both of which offer a closer look at gin production and the history and origin of fermentation respectively.
Guests can also join the adrenaline-pumping Asia Bar Battle Presented by City Nomads, as bartending teams from Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and more put their skills to the test and challenge each other on their skills of cocktail invention, flaring, speed and mystery ingredient challenges. No cocktail festival is complete without a helping of food, and over on the Food Street, check out some bites to pair with your drinks, such as from Ninja Bowl and Ninja Cut, Sinfonia Ristorante (previously known as FOO’D), and 醉红楼 (Zui Hong Lou), for that Asian flair. While you eat and drink the night away, feel free to dance along to the hot dancefloor tunes from CÉ LA VI Resident DJs Brendon P and Ramesh K, and even get a chance to refresh and detox with complimentary beauty and wellness treats by Vaniday, as well as free shaves at the pop-up barber booth by We Need a Hero!
