The Civic District Alliance (CDA), formed in November 2020, consists of Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall, The Arts House, National Gallery Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum and Esplanade -Theatres on the Bay. On 20th March 2020, the CDA will present Art & AI: In Conversation. This inaugural series of panels will see the gathering of some of the leading voices in technology and the arts in Singapore, to introduce the proliferation, application and impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the arts and daily life.
Speakers include representatives from institutions such as Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Singapore Management University (SMU) as well as artists from various genres and fields. Two of these panels will be conducted live at the Ngee Ann Auditorium, Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), with the third livestreamed via Zoom. The topics for each panel are as follows: Living with AI; Beyond the Black Box: The Space Between Art & AI; and How Can Algorithms be Fair?
Rupert Thomson, Head, Artistic Programming at AHL shares: “Art is one our greatest tools to understand the changes that happen in our societies, and AI is fast changing our societies on every level – from the cat videos we see on our handphones, to the way nations plan their futures. As we look towards our debut festival in July, we are excited to invite audiences to ask some of the fundamental questions on this subject. What is AI? What can, and should, we do with it? And how might we respond to the changes it brings?”
Art & AI: In Conversation takes place on 20th March 2021. Participation for Art & AI: In Conversation is free with registration. For more information on the panels, speakers and registration details, visit their website here.
