Ever wanted to put your writing skills to the test? The Golden Point Award is Singapore’s premier creative writing competition and will be launching its 15th edition this year. Participants can choose to submit their works under the Short Story and Poetry categories, in the nation’s four official languages: English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
Organised by Arts House Limited and supported by the National Arts Council, the Golden Point Award will be going fully digital this year and accepting online submissions from 1st June to 22nd July 2021.
Established in 1993, the national literary writing competition is a significant platform for discovering new writers and encouraging literary expression in Singapore.
Winners of this year’s Golden Point Award can look forward to receiving prizes of up to $7,000 in cash and trophies. The following prizes will be awarded for each of the four languages (English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil) across both Short Story and Poetry categories.
First Prize: $7,000 cash, a certificate, and a trophy |
Second Prize: $5,000 cash and a certificate |
Third Prize: $3,000 cash and a certificate |
Submission Guidelines
Who may Participate
The competition is open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. There is no age limit to enter the competition and entries may be written on any subject and theme. Please refer to the Terms & Conditions for more information on eligibility.
How to Enter
The competition is open for online submissions on the following dates:
1st June to 22nd July 2021, by 11.59pm
Participants can submit the applications here.
Fees
A submission fee of $16 (inclusive of GST) must be submitted together with each entry. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. No withdrawal, amendments and transfer of application is allowed once payment is made.
What to Submit
The following need to be submitted via the official online submission portal:
a) A 100-word biography of the author written in English
b) One copy of the manuscript in PDF format (maximum file size is 5 MB)
c) e-banking/payment applications for payments via PayNow
