Art What!: Mr Lim’s Shop of Visual Treasures Presents “FOOLS” – a showcase of Singaporean Art and Limited Edition Silkscreened Masks by Ai Weiwei

A group of emerging artists are showcasing their work at FOOLS, running throughout the month of April at Mr Lim’s Shop of Visual Treasures

The group show features contributions from artists including Woon Tien Wei, Jennifer Teo, Yang Jie, Wen Chao, and other artists, advocates, and misfits. Internationally-renowned artist Ai Weiwei is also donating three silkscreened masks in artist display specifications for the show. They will be sold at EUR 1,000 each, and the proceeds will go to Amnesty International.

“The idea of “FOOLS” is to generate awareness and support for young local art. To tell these folks to stay creative and positive. We need fresh minds and fresh ideas that aren’t restricted by the material world to inspire us and to unite us,” says Lim Chiao Woon, founder/owner of Mr Lim’s Shop of Visual Treasures.

Mr Lim’s Shop of Visual Treasures was founded by Lim Chiao Woon. After plying his trade in advertising for 20 years, he became the creative director at Bose for five years. In January 2021, Chiao Woon was diagnosed with cancer. Rounds of chemotherapy took Chiao Woon’s mind on a world tour of thoughts, one of them was to pursue his love of art, and by July, that landed him in a small corner of Tanglin Shopping Centre. Thus Mr Lim’s Shop of Visual Treasures was born. The shop showcases Chiao Woon’s personal collection, which includes the work of Ai Weiwei, Banksy, and Kaws — all of which are for sale.

FOOLS runs from 1st to 30th April 2022 at Mr Lim’s Shop of Visual Treasures. More information available here
