As part of a collaboration with Singapore’s leading outdoor cinema start-up Cinewav, Movies in the Sky will ensure a cinematic experience like no other, with magnificent panoramic views and immersive audio. This unique movie experience will feature an array of popular and internationally acclaimed titles across June and July to transport guests into a realm of cinematic splendour under the stars.
“Marina Bay Sands is thrilled to be launching Movies in the Sky with our partners, Cinewav and Klook. Set atop the iconic SkyPark Observation Deck, this will be an outdoor cinema like no other. We are offering our visitors a chance to watch some of their favourite blockbuster films, with Singapore’s stunning skyline as the backdrop. Building on the success of our SkyPark Yoga experience, Movies in the Sky is a major new programme for the SkyPark Observation Deck, which underscores the evergreen attraction as a leading lifestyle destination. Our programmes at the SkyPark encourage us to envisage our urban spaces in a magical light. Movies in the Sky exemplifies Marina Bay Sands’ commitment to revitalise our entertainment offerings as international travel resumes, and our passion for film, launching at the same time as we unveil a brand-new cinema at ArtScience Museum,” said Honor Harger, Vice President of Attractions at Marina Bay Sands.
Sarah Wan, General Manager of Klook Singapore, said, “We’re delighted to partner with Cinewav and Marina Bay Sands to bring Movies in the Sky to our customers. With the mid-year holidays quickly approaching, this will be a great opportunity for families to enjoy a night out like no other. As Singapore’s leading travel and leisure e-commerce platform, we will continue to strive to uncover unique experiences and activities for our customers.”
Towering 56 storeys above ground, the SkyPark Observation Deck is a popular stop for both international visitors and locals. Home to one of the world’s largest public cantilevers, the architectural masterpiece boasts an exclusive event venue atop Marina Bay Sands’ hotel towers.
Standing at the forefront of immersive outdoor screenings, Cinewav utilises a world-first technology to transform novel event spaces into cinematic utopias for moviegoers. Movies in the Sky unveils a new chapter of unique movie screenings, where audiences are invited to bring along their own headphones to connect to high quality audio that plays in sync with the big screen. Viewers can lounge in Nine.N’s custom-designed recliner floor sofas and experience an intimate cinematic concept beyond conventional theatre walls.
“The aim of Cinewav is to bring cinema to amazing spaces. I can’t think of a more amazing space than the SkyPark Observation Deck at Marina Bay Sands. I dare say it will be one of the highest rooftop cinemas in the world with perhaps the most breathtaking view. By providing immersive HD audio through personal smartphones, audiences will be immersed in the true spirit of cinema: a shared, big screen experience with premium audio. We’re so proud to be partnering with Marina Bay Sands and Klook to offer this cinematic experience in the sky!” said Jason Chan, Co-founder of Cinewav.
Movies in the Sky will screen a total of 12 movies in June and July at 8.30pm every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Visitors to the Observation Deck can purchase light bites and beverages from CÉ LA VI’s kiosk located right next to the screenings between 4pm and 10.30pm from Wednesdays to Fridays.
Tickets are exclusively available for booking on Klook’s online ticketing platform and admission is limited to 100 people per screening. Guests are strongly encouraged to pre-purchase tickets online prior to their visit, due to limited availability. More information available here
