The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) has announced a special fundraising screening for the Singapore premiere of Wes Anderson’s highly anticipated film, Asteroid City. This exclusive one-night-only event will take place on 5th August 2023, Saturday, at Golden Village Vivocity, preceding its public release in cinemas on 10th August 2023.

Tickets for the fundraiser event will be available for a donation of $50 per seat. By donating, attendees not only secure their spot for the special screening but also immerse themselves in a night of festivities.

Planned as a night of film fun – carnival snacks and photobooth mementoes will be provided, creating an immersive experience in line with the film’s theme. What’s more, a Wes Anderson dress-up contest and trivia quiz will offer attendees the chance to win limited Asteroid City merchandise worth S$400.

SGIFF is a non-profit organisation that relies on the support of individual donors to nurture and champion independent cinema and filmmaking talent from Singapore and the region.

Wes Anderson, a celebrated director, has captivated audiences with his unique storytelling and signature style since the 1990s. Known for his award-winning films, the highly-anticipated Asteroid City is set in a fictional American desert town in 1955. Asteroid City revolves around a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention. This gathering, designed to foster camaraderie and intellectual competition among students and parents from across the country, is unexpectedly disrupted by world-changing events, creating a spectacular and captivating narrative.
