Preview: 2:22 – A Ghost Story by Singapore Repertory Theatre

Still in the midst of the 30th anniversary celebrations and coming off a stellar return of Shakespeare in the Park, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) has announced their next production for 2023 – Danny Robbins’ 2:22 – A Ghost Story.

Seeing resounding success on London’s West End and Los Angeles, this award-winning play tells the story of Jenny and Sam, a young couple who have just moved into their dream home. Soon after moving in, however, they start to experience strange occurrences at exactly 2:22am every night. As the haunting intensifies, and the occurrences increase, the tension and suspense build as the clock ticks down to 2:22, creating a gripping and memorable theatrical experience.

“Ghost stories in general provide a unique opportunity for theatrical storytelling. The eerie atmosphere, supernatural themes, and haunting characters provide wonderful opportunities for heightened storytelling and offer a sense of escapism and excitement that can be very appealing to audiences, especially those looking for a thrilling night out at the theatre,” says director Daniel Jenkin.

“As a culture known for its rich folklore and legends, with many stories revolving around supernatural beings, ghosts, spirits, and other paranormal entities, ghost stories and superstition have been a part of Singapore’s cultural heritage for generations, offering a mix of drama, excitement, and intrigue. And a well-crafted ghost story, like 2:22, can provide all these elements.”

Starring Dominique De Marco, Shane Mardjuki, Sharda Harrison and Andy Tear, 2:22 – A Ghost Story is set to thrill you like no other theatre show quite does: through hauntings and horror that will send a shiver down your spine.

2:22 – A Ghost Story plays from 15th August 2023 at the KC Arts Centre. Tickets available here
