Want to support the arts and attend a spectacular late night party tomorrow? Look no further than National Gallery Singapore’s first ever Gallery Underground, a museum party within the gallery’s historical walls.
Beginning from 9pm, start the night off with an exclusive preview of the Gallery’s latest exhibition – Tropical: Stories from Southeast Asia and Latin America, ahead of its public opening on 18th November 2023. The exhibition is the first large-scale museum exhibition to take a comparative approach across two regions united by their shared struggles against colonialism. Comprising over 200 paintings, sculptures, prints and immersive installations, Tropical spans the 20th century, tracing how artists from Southeast Asia and Latin America forged connections and nurtured solidarities, defiantly reclaiming their place within the story of art.

10pm is when the party really gets going, with a guest DJ from Zouk and music curation from SOHO House, and complimentary cocktails from Smoke & Mirrors and Roku Gin. With every ticket purchase, you also stand a chance to win an exclusive “Tsumari in Bloom” by Japanese contemporary artist, Yayoi Kusama. Be sure to come dressed in theme – inspired by the exhibition, come in your best Tropical-inspired outfit.
If parties aren’t your thing but you want to support the Gallery in a big way, take part in the Gallery Benefit Auction featuring a broad array of artworks and art experiences from local and regional artists. Support the Gallery Benefit by bidding in auctions featuring works by Lim Tze Peng, Yayoi Kusama, Syagini Ratna Wulan, Carlo Carma, and many more.
