The arts can be enjoyed and performed by anyone of any age, whether you’re a teen or an octogenarian. This January, Grain Performance & Research Lab is proud to present the results of their training, where a cast of five generations, aged 18 to 84, will be performing brand new show Whispering Tiger, Hidden Essence.

Directed by Beverley Yuen, Whispering Tiger, Hidden Essence blends physical theatre and fitness onstage, imagining a group known as The Warrior Circle, who has always taken pride in its physical strength and defensive prowess. But the leader, who once believed his peak fitness would last forever, is struck by an injury that changes everything. Now a “weakened master”, he faces the challenge of passing on his legacy to a disciple.

Wellness is the key theme of this show, while also promising to showcase all the dramatics and stakes of The Hunger Games – watch as this motley crew of performers come together to challenge conventional notions of age, strength, and resilience, and start your new year off on a transformative journey as they prove that anyone and everyone has the ability to do great things at any age.
