HONG KONG – Singaporean contemporary artist Robert Zhao Renhui brings a poignant exploration of urban nature to the heart of Hong Kong with Museum of Everything Else, an immersive installation presented in collaboration with CHARLES & KEITH at their Fashion Walk store in Causeway Bay.
Zhao, known for his unique blend of art and ecological inquiry, draws upon his time spent tracking Hong Kong’s urban wildlife—cows, buffaloes, porcupines, and civets—to create a hauntingly beautiful meditation on adaptation, coexistence, and quiet resilience in a city of constant transformation.

“Museum of Everything Else is my meditation on Hong Kong’s evolving landscapes, where non-human animals persist alongside urban life,” Zhao shares. “Rather than retreating, they navigate and adapt—cows grazing on forgotten land, civets moving through roads, and porcupines foraging at the city’s edges. Their presence, against all odds, feels like a quiet miracle.”
Through photography and storytelling, Zhao captures these encounters with the elusive creatures of Hong Kong’s shifting peripheries. The project, he notes, is a “reflection on the intertwined existence of animals and the ever-changing city they call home.”
Set against the backdrop of rapid development and shrinking natural habitats, Zhao’s work reframes the city’s margins—not as voids, but as spaces rich with hidden life and complexity. The installation offers a rare glimpse into this “unseen,” where art becomes a lens for reimagining urban ecosystems.

The collaboration with CHARLES & KEITH goes beyond visual art. As part of the project, Zhao co-created a limited-edition handbag and a bespoke scent titled Forest Echoes, developed with fragrance designer @floriography. The perfume traces Zhao’s one-week journey from forest to sea, offering a sensory dimension to his ecological narrative.
“I’m so grateful for the support from the team in bringing this project to life,” Zhao wrote, thanking the team at CHARLES & KEITH and collaborators such as Alexandra Malena Saint Mleux, who helped realize the installation.
This exhibition continues a strong year for Zhao, who also represented Singapore at the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia with Seeing Forest, a project similarly rooted in themes of urban nature and the hidden lives within it. Through his work, Zhao continues to assert the importance of seeing—and caring for—the fragile ecologies that exist in parallel with human cities.
Museum of Everything Else is on view for two weeks at CHARLES & KEITH’s Fashion Walk store in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. For more information, visit CHARLES & KEITH’s website.
