Preview: Constellations by The Winter Players

If love had infinite versions, in how many would you recognize yourself? That’s the tantalizing question at the heart of Nick Payne’s Olivier award-winning play, Constellations, coming to Singapore this April courtesy of the dynamic youth-led collective, The Winter Players (TWP).

Fresh off their sold-out rendition of Much Ado About Nothing, TWP are back to open their 2026 season with a bold, contemporary exploration of love, loss, and the endless what-ifs that shape our lives. Set against the backdrop of quantum physics and honey, Constellations tells the story of Marianne, a beekeeper, and Roland, a physicist, as their romance unfolds across a kaleidoscope of parallel universes, each choice, pause, and word rippling into a new trajectory.

“It’s a modern classic that speaks to all of us,” says Marwyn Ho, TWP’s Artistic Director and co-director of the production. “As a youth-led collective, we’re excited to present our interpretation of the multiverse, bringing fresh perspectives to a story that continues to resonate worldwide.”

The Winter Players’ rendition is a testament to the company’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of theatre-makers. From directing to sound, lighting, multimedia, and set design, this production is led by a team of young creatives stepping boldly into the spotlight.

Staged at the KC Arts Centre – Home of SRT, TWP’s Constellations marks their first contemporary play and the inaugural production of their 2026 season. Audiences can expect intimate performances with dual daily showings at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM from 2 to 5 April, with a special 20-minute post-show dialogue after the 7:30 PM performance on 3 April.

Starring Juliana Kassim Chan as Marianne and Marwyn Ho as Roland, the play promises an emotionally charged exploration of love’s fragility and endurance. Tickets start at $27, with options for student pricing and eligibility for SG Culture Pass credits, making this a perfect outing for theatre enthusiasts and first-timers alike.

Established under Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Company-in-Residence Programme, TWP has steadily built a reputation for resurrecting and reinventing international classics for local audiences, with previous productions like Doctor Faustus, Hedda Gabler, and Much Ado About Nothing drawing enthusiastic crowds.

As Charlotte Nors, Managing Director of SRT, notes: “Investing in the next generation has always been a cornerstone of our work. TWP’s journey reflects the vibrancy and ambition of Singapore’s theatre scene.”

For those ready to lose themselves in the infinite possibilities of love, Constellations offers both a cerebral and emotional journey, a rare chance to witness the multiverse unfold on stage.

Constellations plays from 2nd to 5th April 2026 at the KC Arts Centre. Tickets available from BookMyShow
