The Necessary Stage makes their foray into the Chinese theatre scene in this special commission for the annual Huayi Festival!

Actor, Forty features Golden Horse Award-winning actress Yeo Yann Yann returning to the stage in a brand new monologue in collaboration TNS’ Alvin Tan and Haresh Sharma. Actor, Forty promises an honest, informal and conversational look at the way we take on various identities throughout our lives, similar to how an actor takes on multiple roles through her career. Except in real life, there are no rehearsals and no second takes.

Yeo Yann Yann will play an actress recently cast in a remake of actual hit 1995 Hong Kong film  《女人四十》, following a 40-something woman dealing with difficult family issues. In real life, Yann Yann’s character has a deep secret she’s attempting to keep under wraps – she is turning 40 and expecting her first child. Will she be able to find meaning in and balance her jetsetting career with her most challenging role yet – becoming a mother? Find out by catching Actor, Forty at the Esplanade Theatre Studio this February!

Actor, Forty plays at the Esplanade Studio Theatre from 3-6 February as part of the 2017 Huayi Chinese Festival of the Arts. Tickets available here
