The 60s were a sexy, exciting time, as evidenced by Hairspray. But have you ever wondered just how fabulous things were in Singapore? In one of the biggest local productions since W!ld Rice’s Hotel, Tropicana brings together some of Singapore’s very best talent from the arts world to create a bang up period musical that’s bound to set hearts flutter and pine with nostalgia for the swingin’ 60s.

Set in 1968, Tropicana takes place in a Las Vegas style nightspot in the heart of Orchard Road, with a myriad of characters coming and going, celebrating the power of independent vision and creative courage allowing individuals on our little red dot to show what they’re truly capable of, in the final vestiges of Singapore’s era of freedom.

Promising to bring you on a rollercoaster of laughs and tears, the production features an all-star creative team, with The Necessary Stage’s Haresh Sharma’s virgin foray into musical writing, directed by Beatrice Chia-Richmond, music by Julian Wong, Joel Tan on lyrics, choreography by Jeffrey Tan and produced by Tan Kheng Hua. Not to mention, a fabulous star studded cast will also be performing, namely: Brendon Fernandez, Sharda Harrison, Siti K, Mitch Lagos, Joshua Lim, Lim Yu-Beng, Audrey Luo, Rizman Putra, Seong Huixuan, Ebi Shankara and Karen Tan.

Excited yet? We know we are, and we can’t wait till April when it premieres at the very appropriately grand and historic Capitol Theatre. What’s more, Tropicana sees the introduction of incentive pricing based ticketing, where the earlier you buy, the cheaper the tickets will be, so get your tickets soon to secure a smashing good time!

Tropicana The Musical plays at the Capitol Theatre from 13-30 April. Tickets available now from SISTIC!  For more information, check out their website at http://www.tropicanathemusical.com/
