We fell in love with Fringe type shows this year, and with the summer season hot on our heels, there’s no better, brighter time to be alive than at upcoming fringe festivals such as the Wandsworth Fringe and Brighton Fringe, where Iain Gibbons, last seen as a doctor in Rounds at the Blue Elephant Theatre, will be performing his solo show The Performance. And on 10 May, Bric A Brac Theatre will be presenting Just Lose It!, a new immersive play about, what else but the quirky and horrifying world of weight loss. Check them out in detail below!
The Performance by Iain Gibbons
Iain Gibbons is just as excited to watch The Performance as you are, as he presents himself…watching and sitting through the most spectacular, high-production piece of theatre he has ever seen. Trained in the Gaulier-style art of clowning and inspired by the silent clowns, Gibbons will play the most annoying audience member you wished you’d never have the misfortune to sit next to, completely inexperienced and lacking in all social graces. Brace yourself for one heck of a hilarious show.
The Performance previews at the Wandsworth Fringe on 10 and 11 May at The Cat’s Back, 86-88 Point Pleasant, SW18 1NN before playing at the Brighton Fringe later in the month. Tickets available here (Wandsworth Fringe) and here (Brighton Fringe)
Just Lose It! by Bric A Brac Theatre
Coming hot on the heels of their critically acclaimed 2016 hit show Ash, Bric A Brac Theatre return with an all new, immersive, promenade experience that revolves around the mysterious world of weight loss and our obsession with the way we look.
As an audience member, you’re invited to Bin-the-Belly weight loss corporation’s end of year extravaganza. Expect awards, motivational speeches, fun fitness workouts and, of course, the end of year briefing from their lean, mean, sexy machine: CEO Brian. Come dressed in your UnderArmour and lululemons, and get ready to bin that belly, get that waistline into the waste bin and drink as much skinny prosecco as you can get your hands on. After all, the only way to win big, is to lose large in this grotesque, interactive cabaret show!
Just Lose It! plays at The Space (269 Westferry Road) at 530pm and 8pm on 10 May. Tickets available here
