All new theatre company Glowtape Productions bursts onto the scene with their debut production, The Great Wall: One Woman’s Journey. Stay tuned to the end of this post to win tickets to the show!
Behind The Great Wall lies an all star production team and cast. Local award-winning playwright Jean Tay (Everything But The Brain, Boom) makes a glorious return as scriptwriter here, and retells the legend of Meng Jiang Nü, the woman and star crossed lover who brought down the Great Wall of China with her tears, a symbol of resistance against seemingly insurmountable odds.
The Great Wall reimagines the legend as a musical, taking audiences on an odyssey of song and raw emotion in this contemporary adaptation, while remaining heavily inspired by traditional design. The stellar cast will include international musical star Na-Young Jeon (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon), multi-talented George Chan (Chicago, December Rains) and our very own Nathan Hartono, fresh from his stint on Sing! China.
With songs composed by UK composer David Shrubsole (London Road) and directed by Australian director Darren Yap (Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia!), The Great Wall promises a thunderous debut for Glowtape Productions, and is almost certain to bring the house down with the phenomenal amount of talent and an enduring, timeless tale sure to resonate with audience members.
Hey readers! Wanna catch Na-Young Jeon, Nathan Hartono and George Chan in The Great Wall? Here’s your chance to be one of the first to experience it!
