This December, it’s time to take flight and journey to a galaxy far, far away as SSO presents a concert celebrating John Williams’ epic music for hit sci-fi film franchise Star Wars.
The programme, conducted by Australian conductor Christopher Dragon, includes some of the most popular moments from the movies’ scores – from the ‘Imperial March’ and ‘Leia’s Theme’ to the beautiful ‘Across the Stars’. The performances will also include themes from some of the most recent films in the series: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The concert is also strategically scheduled to coincide with the release of the final part of the new film trilogy – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which will be released in Singapore cinemas on 19th December.
Christopher Dragon is in his fourth season as the Associate Conductor of the Colorado Symphony. For three years he previously held the position of Assistant Conductor with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. He works regularly in Australia and has guest conducted the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and West Australian Symphony Orchestras.
SSO POPS: The Music of Star Wars plays on 19th and 20th December 2019 at the Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets available from SISTIC
