Bellepoque is back this May with a brand new, LIVE performance. Titled RESONANCES, the double-bill is an exciting new multidisciplinary and modular performance combining storytelling, movement, video projection, live and pre-recorded music.
This follows in the footsteps of their digital presentation of CRAVE in 2020, which adopted a similar multi-disciplinary form. Once again featuring scripts by Verena Tay, RESONANCES reflects upon how human resilience enables us to overcome crisis and how Beauty, Nature and Art exemplified by Georgette Chen play fundamental roles in our society.
The first part, Resilience, features composition and artistic direction by Dr Robert Cassels, with violinist Kai Lin Yong, pianist Bertram Wee, vocalist and movement artist Sabrina Zuber, and filmmakers Tejas Ewing and Deepesh Vasudev.
The second part, Lotus Fugue, combines intimate and poetical questions about the Art: what is Art? what are the roots of inspiration? How do they connect to a person’s cultural identity, environment, territory? Could we experiment it through a performance? The performance features Verena Tay as the storyteller, Muhd Sharul Mohd as choreographer, pianist Tabitha Gan, vocalist and movement artist Sabrina Zuber, lighting by Yeo Hon Beng, and filmmakers Tejas Ewing and Deepesh Vasudev.
Resonances runs from 14th to 16th May 2021 at Alliance Francaise. Tickets available here
