
Lemonade Sky by J.H. Low has been awarded the Hedwig Anuar Children’s Book Award 2022 (HABA) for Best Picture Book.
Paired with bold artful illustrations and a moving story, Lemonade Sky tells the story of a young boy’s journey of self-discovery in search of his own “lemonade sky”—a place where he believes he can truly be free. Author and illustrator J.H. Low approaches a sensitive topic with thoughtfulness and originality. Lemonade Sky is a compelling tale for readers of all ages about finding one’s place and reasons to go on even when the going gets tough.

J.H. Low is an art educator, artist and creator of children’s picture books. He has a BA in Fine Art from the University of Leeds, a MA in Children’s Book Illustration from the Anglia Ruskin University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Art. His book, There is No Steak Buried Here was Highly Commended at the McMillan Prize 2009. This story was subsequently developed into the series, Four Tooth and Friends , and has been published in three different languages: Chinese (under the name Ye Zi 椰子 ), English and Vietnamese. His other book, Night in the Garden , featuring Singapore’s very own Gardens by the Bay, was on the shortlist for the Asian Children’s Book Award 2017. In 2019, he also won the first runner-up of the Scholastic Picture Book Award with his submission Orang & Hutan.
