65 million years ago, dinosaurs ruled the earth… 29 years ago, a movie about dinosaurs came out that just plain ruled.
Hot on the heels of the release of Jurassic World: Dominion comes a phenomenon that occurs each time a hit blockbuster premieres – a parody. Only this time, they’ll be performing a parody of the film that started it all – Jurassic Park.
This weekend, step into The Improv Company’s brand new space at Aliwal Arts Centre, and get ready to Hold On To Your Butts. Originally created by Recent Cutbacks (New York City), Hold On To Your Butts is a live, shot-for-shot parody of the 1993 dinosaur epic Jurassic Park. Two actors and one foley artist create a high-energy, comedic love letter to the film via a scrappy, duct-tape-and-cardboard world.
Starring Miriam Cheong (Wild Rice’s The Other F Word, Fat Kids are Harder to Kidnap), Pavan J. Singh (Code of Law, The Curious Case of The Missing Peranakan Treasure, Fat Kids are Harder to Kidnap) and Luke Yu (Otters United Funny Club, SRT’s Caught), can they complete the entire movie in one hour? The cast, just like life, finds a way.
Hold On To Your Butts plays from 1st to 3rd July 2022 at The Improv Company’s Nook @ Aliwal, #02-05 Aliwal Arts Centre, 199918. Tickets available from Peatix. Enjoy 15% off tickets with discount code triceratops at checkout.
