Big, bold and always gold, Dream Academy’s beloved Broadway Beng returns to the stage this July for a brand new show – Broadway Beng – Growing gOLD. Marking the 8th instalment of the Broadway Beng series of shows since 2006, Broadway Beng has made a name for himself as one of Dream Academy’s most popular characters – a singing, Hokkien-speaking, flamboyant, and ostentatious character who loves all things glamorous and extravagant, including Broadway and West End musicals, spewing a quintessentially Singaporean mix of English, Mandarin, and Hokkien in his performances.

Why gold? Because this edition is particularly special – it’s to celebrate Broadway Beng performer Sebastian Tan’s 50th birthday, and marking it as a golden milestone. Broadway Beng – GROWING gOLD will take audiences on a journey through Sebastian Tan’s life and career, with never-before-shared stories. A uniquely Singaporean production featuring songs reimagined, witty humour, satire delivered with live music accompaniment and elaborate costumes in true Dream Academy style.

Joining Sebastian Tan on stage are his three sassy “chio bus”, Denise Tan, Hannah Nordin, and Sarah Smith, who will perform with him across an eclectic mix of Hokkien classics, Broadway hits and contemporary pop music, reimagined and delivered with Broadway Beng’s signature flair. Live music will be performed by a talented band, led by Music Director Joel Nah.
