After 2023’s Broadway Beng: Growing gOLD, Singapore’s favourite multilingual, Hokkien-speaking, Broadway-loving East meets West performer is back for the ninth edition of the Broadway Beng series this October. Presented by Dream Academy, it’s time to welcome Sebastian Tan back to the Capitol Theatre for Broadway Beng® Fukien Special, running for just five shows.

A staple of Dream Academy’s line-up since 2006, Broadway Beng® Fukien Special plays on the word “Fukien,” meaning “Hokkien” in Cantonese, and celebrates everything that makes the Broadway Beng character special, from our rich cultural heritage to loving stage shows from the Western world. Expect a Fukien experience (with English surtitles) in this uniquely Singaporean production, featuring reimagined songs, witty humour, satire, live music, and elaborate costumes, all presented in true Dream Academy style.

Joining Sebastian Tan on stage are his three sassy “chio bus”, Denise Tan (the OG chio bu), alongside Audrey Luo and Sharon Sum, as they add charisma, energy, and catchy tunes to keep audiences entertained throughout the show. The music in the show is an eclectic mix of Hokkien classics delivered with Broadway Beng’s signature flair, featuring live music led by Music Director Joel Nah.
