Preview: The Divorce Party! by Dream Academy

Forget weddings: in 2025, the most fabulous celebrations are all about freedom. Step aside champagne toasts and first dances; Dream Academy is inviting you to raise a glass to a whole new kind of milestone with The Divorce Party, a riotously funny, scandalously delicious immersive dining experience set at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore.

This isn’t just dinner and a show — it’s an all-out beach-chic blowout marking the end of Phoebe Choo’s ill-fated marriage to the mysteriously forgettable Andy Sim Mong (…who?). Hosted by Phoebe’s ever-loyal BFF and former maid of honour Alison May Shiau, this one-night extravaganza promises decadent food, juicy secrets, and a whole lot of dancing. As Alison puts it, “AFTER D’VORCE COMES D’PARTY!”

Three years ago, the Choo family threw the wedding of the decade, courtesy of family matriarch Penny Choo — a woman with deep pockets and a deeper love for over-the-top parties (and, suspiciously, the same face as Broadway Beng, Sebastian Tan). Now, Phoebe’s marriage is over, and her friends have decided that calls for an even bigger bash. The only catch? It’s a surprise. Guests are sworn to secrecy, and anyone who spills the beans risks facing Aunty Penny’s legendary persistence… or Phoebe’s wrath.

Set in the opulent Atelier ballroom at The Capitol Kempinski, The Divorce Party combines immersive theatre with a lavish dining experience. Guests will indulge in a three-course feast with a dessert buffet, curated by the hotel’s acclaimed culinary team, a world-class blend of starters, mains, and sweet endings. There are vegetarian options, but dietary restrictions are not entertained; in the words of Aunty Penny, “Old-school means eat what’s served.” The evening begins with a welcome drink, alcoholic or otherwise, with more on offer for those who take advantage of special pre-order discounts at the bar. But the real intoxication comes from the fiery gossip and the Choo family skeletons rattling away in their walk-in wardrobes, secrets that will have you leaning in over your plate for every juicy detail.

The dress code calls for your most stylish beach-chic couture, and the atmosphere demands your willingness to play along. This is not a show you watch from the sidelines; here, you’re part of the story, swept into a night of hot-off-the-press revelations, outrageous banter, and plenty of opportunities to hit the dance floor once the drama peaks.

If you’ve ever sat through a painfully dull wedding dinner wishing someone would just spill the tea, The Divorce Party is your dream come true. Outrageous, delicious, and interactive, it’s part theatre, part party, and entirely unforgettable. Just remember to arrive early, or risk being stashed in the janitor’s closet until the big reveal, keep the surprise from Phoebe at all costs, and bring your best beach-chic game. As Alison cheekily warns: “Choo don’t want to miss this!”

The Divorce Party! plays from 18th November to 14th December 2025 at the Capitol Kempinski Hotel. Tickets available here
