Arts of Malaysia: KL Art Book Fair 2025 celebrates fair’s 5th edition with over 125 local and international exhibitors

Bigger than ever, the Kuala Lumpur Art Book Fair (KLABF) is back for its fifth edition to honour the city’s vibrant artist-run culture and self-publishing scene. KLABF 2025 invites artists, designers, illustrators, writers, photographers, printmakers, independent publishers, alongside enthusiasts from Malaysia and beyond to gather under one roof for an exciting three-day celebration of the art book community. Founded in 2021, the KLABF is an independent annual event that celebrates artist-run culture, self-publishing, and printed matter.

As Malaysia’s leading art book fair, KLABF serves as a dynamic platform for both local and international creative practitioners to connect, collaborate, and explore innovative printworks and publishing mediums who view publishing as an artistic expression. The event offers audiences a unique opportunity to discover some of the best indie publishers, art book creators, and exceptional artists — all under one roof — fostering a vibrant space for artistic exchange and inspiration.

With a growing selection of more than 125 local and international exhibitors from over 20 countries, including Japan, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, and China, fairgoers can expect a spectacular kaleidoscope of independent publishers, artists, art books, limited edition publications, and more.

Staying true to their ethos, KLABF 2025 aims to celebrate diverse design languages and eccentric perspectives by hosting its largest programme to date, featuring collaborations with local collectives for exhibitions on various printed matter (RJ Paper, 00123 Books), projection mapping (Filamen), film screenings (Freedom Film Network, Karafuru Visuals, Rumah Kosong, Borneo Komrad), and a Polaroid photobooth (Zontiga).

The fair will also host a graphic design exhibition by the recipients of the 2025 JAGDA New Designer Award — Tetsuro Jozaki, Sarene Chan, and Hirokazu Matsuda. Blending traditional Japanese elements with contemporary sensibilities, the exhibition will showcase award-winning works from the three designers across various mediums – posters, sculptures, packaging, branding and more.

Fairgoers also have the chance to collect unique KLABF 2025 memorabilia. Partnering with Ana Tomy to create limited edition KLABF 2025 merchandise, visitors can pre-order them here. Additionally, the Fair has also collaborated with Mossery to create 22 KLABF 2025-exclusive covers that feature selected designs from this year’s exhibitors. Visitors can explore the collection online and pre-order here.

In the spirit of celebration, the programme roster of talks, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, special showcases, and more promises to be a memorable festivity for all members of the public alike, and foster a dynamic and inclusive space for confluence, conversation, and collaboration.

KL Art Book Fair 2025 runs from 28th to 30th November 2025 at The Kuala Lumpur And Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH). More information and tickets available here
