HONG KONG – In celebration of Art March Hong Kong, M+, Asia’s global museum of contemporary visual culture in the West Kowloon Cultural District, will welcome visitors with free admission to its major exhibitions and public programmes on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
From 10:00 to 20:00, the museum will open its doors to the public without pre-registration, inviting the community to experience contemporary visual culture through exhibitions, screenings, and interactive programmes.
Visitors will have free access to most of the museum’s major exhibitions across its L2 galleries. Highlights include:
- M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds
- Things, Spaces, Interactions
- Making It Matters
- Shanshui: Echoes and Signals
- Robert Rauschenberg and Asia
- Chiharu Shiota: Infinite Memory
At B2, visitors can also explore the immersive exhibition Ryuichi Sakamoto | seeing sound, hearing time, as well as Danh Vo In Situ: Akari by Noguchi in the Found Space gallery.
Meanwhile, the Mediatheque will remain open as usual with free screening programmes, offering visitors a deeper dive into moving image works and digital media. The only exhibition not included in the free-access programme is Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker, located in the Main Hall Gallery.
Alongside the exhibitions, visitors can also take part in a selection of free public programmes. At the museum’s Learning Hub, the Open Print Studio workshop invites participants to experiment with printmaking techniques inspired by the Zao Wou-Ki exhibition. The self-guided activity encourages visitors to explore how subtle changes in colour and texture can produce dramatically different results.
Meanwhile, the Grand Stair will host a continuous screening of Carsten Nicolai’s ENDO EXO and PHOSPHENES, two works developed through the artist’s long-standing collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto. The pieces feature music from Sakamoto’s final studio album 12 (2023) and form part of Nicolai’s ongoing moving-image project inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Visitors accessing the free exhibitions should enter the museum via the Artist Square Entrance, as several other entrances will be closed for the day. To ensure a smooth experience, the museum may control visitor numbers, and queues may form during peak hours. Entry lines will close at 19:00 to allow guests sufficient time to explore the galleries before closing.
Guests holding tickets for the Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker exhibition, as well as M+ Members and Patrons, can enter through the Art Park Entrance and will enjoy additional benefits such as priority access to certain exhibitions, workshops, and the M+ Lounge.
Visitors can also make a full day of their museum trip with dining and shopping options across the museum. Restaurants and shops including AGATE, nodi, Mosu Hong Kong, The Other Shop, and The M+ Shop will be open throughout the day.
