HONG KONG – Every March, Hong Kong transforms into a vibrant canvas of creativity, but this year, one of its most iconic addresses is turning the experience into something far more intimate. At The Peninsula Hong Kong, art doesn’t just hang on walls—it surrounds, delights, and even flavours your afternoon tea.
The latest edition of The Peninsula’s global “Art in Resonance” programme returns for 2026 with an evocative theme centred on craftsmanship, culture, and sensory immersion. Timed with Hong Kong Arts Month, the showcase invites guests to step into a living gallery where contemporary art seamlessly intertwines with hospitality.

From the moment you approach the hotel, the experience begins. Hong Kong artist Angel Hui transforms the façade into a shimmering dreamscape with Swimming in Light. Her signature embroidered goldfish—delicate yet dynamic, glide across windows, awnings, and even the hotel’s famed Rolls-Royce fleet. The effect is whimsical and quietly mesmerising, turning the everyday into something poetic.
Inside, the grandeur of The Lobby takes on a contemplative tone with Metamorphic Modulation by Albert Yonathan Setyawan. Created in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, the installation envelops visitors in a sculptural environment composed of more than 700 handcrafted ceramic forms. Leaves blur into flowers, shadows shift with movement, and the line between observer and artwork dissolves.

Perhaps the most unexpected transformation unfolds at The Verandah Café, where Dr. William Lim redefines the idea of a dining space. His installation, Walking On A Bright Future, turns the café into a surreal landscape inspired by his painting A Bright Future. Think hand-tufted tapestries, checkerboard carpets, and dreamlike motifs—a world where fish soar through the sky and imagination takes centre stage.
Art doesn’t just surround you, it becomes part of the experience. This creative spirit extends to the menu. Across the hotel, culinary offerings are thoughtfully curated to echo the artworks. At The Lobby, the “Art in Resonance” afternoon tea features pastries and confections that mirror the colours and forms of the installations. Meanwhile, The Verandah Café presents an artisan pastry set inspired by Lim’s work, including delicately crafted desserts like the Crystal Ball mousse and blossom-infused creations.

At its core, “Art in Resonance” also becomes a platform for dialogue. By partnering with institutions like the V&A and spotlighting artists at pivotal moments in their careers, The Peninsula continues to bridge cultures and elevate creative voices on a global stage. The programme also reinforces Hong Kong’s position as one of Asia’s most dynamic cultural hubs, where tradition and innovation coexist in compelling ways.
Running from late March to early May, this year’s programme offers a rare opportunity to experience art in a setting that feels both luxurious and deeply personal. Whether you’re pausing for tea beneath drifting goldfish, wandering through a forest of ceramic forms, or dining inside a living artwork, one thing becomes clear: at The Peninsula, art isn’t something you simply observe. It’s something you live.
