Arts of Hong Kong: Central Yards Edible Art Fair announces collaboration with renowned Hong Kong artists and unveils unique edible creations

HONG KONG – This spring, Hong Kong is inviting you to do something unusual: eat the art. Set against the breezy skyline of the Central Harbourfront Event Space, the debut of the Central Yards Edible Art Fair (26 March to 5 April 2026) is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about highlights of the city’s Arts Month. It’s not just an exhibition, it’s a fully immersive, multi-sensory journey where installations don’t just hang on walls; they’re tasted, experienced, and remembered.

The concept is simple but striking: 10 art installations, 10 edible creations, one seamless journey. Each gallery draws inspiration from an iconic art movement, pairing visual storytelling with a carefully crafted bite designed to deepen the emotional connection.

Think playful creations like Liquid Palette, Fruit Ribbons, and Froggy Biscuits—small, imaginative dishes that transform the act of viewing into something far more intimate and memorable. It’s art you don’t just observe—you step inside it.

The fair is anchored by a strong “Made in Hong Kong” spirit, brought to life through collaborations with celebrated local artists. In “The Magic Makers,” artist Angela Yuen turns everyday objects into a poetic exploration of the city’s identity.

Known for weaving together found items, from vintage toys to electronic fragments, Yuen creates a layered narrative that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. Her installation acts like a time capsule of Hong Kong, blending past and present into a tactile, emotional landscape that invites visitors to reflect on the city’s evolving story.

Then there’s the unmistakable energy of Frog King (Kwok Mang-ho), whose “Frogtopia” transforms art into a living, participatory playground. Rooted in the New Ink Movement, his work dissolves the boundary between artist and audience.

Here, spontaneity rules, and visitors are encouraged to engage, play, and even taste his whimsical “Froggy Biscuits,” embodying his long-held philosophy that art is life, and life is art.

What makes this fair stand out isn’t just its creativity, but also its accessibility. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply curious, the experience is designed to be playful, inclusive, and deeply engaging. Beyond the installations, visitors can join hands-on workshops to create their own edible art, turning inspiration into something tangible (and delicious).

In a city known for constantly reinventing itself, the Edible Art Fair feels like a natural evolution blurring the lines between culture, lifestyle, and experience. Backed by Central Yards, the event also signals a broader ambition to transform Hong Kong’s harbourfront into a global cultural destination. It’s a glimpse into how art might be experienced in the future: interactive, sensory, and deeply personal.
