Epicurean Market 2017: A Burst of Flavours

Epicurean Market, Marina Bay Sands’ best and biggest food and wine extravaganza returns this August for its fifth year, promising to deliver culinary delights with great taste, great smells and great sights for everyone!

Epicurean Market 2017 is set to be the most exciting iteration of the festival yet, with plenty of activities to be held over the weekend and award-winning gourmet dishes galore. Treat your tastebuds with over 20 restaurants at MBS serving their signature dishes at the market. What’s more, ticket-holders can even claim a free $15 signature dish from participating outlets, including Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen with their best-selling Fish and Chips, and CUT by Wolfgang Puck.

Epicurean Market will also be giving guests a sneak peak at the all new multi-concept restaurant/lounge/bar/nightclub LAVO at Sands SkyPark, straight in from New York and Las Vegas, along with a taste of upcoming French tearoom/patisseries Angelina Cafe.  Other new participants include Japanese ramen chain IPPUDO, contemporary bar bistro concept Dallas Café & Bar and Chinese restaurant Seafood Paradise.

Not to fear, international food will not be the only cuisine featured this year and there’ll even be a special celebration of local cuisine. Check out the all new Singapore Street Food experience, set in a traditional two-storey shophouse. Visitors can look forward to live cooking demonstrations, and indulge in local dishes such as Teochew Png Kueh, Roti Prata and Rendang Pipi Daging (braised wagyu beef cheek rendang with turmeric ginger rice), while the newly refurbished RISE restaurant will be presenting some of the best of multi-cultural Singaporean delicacies – including its specialty 48-hour slow cooked braised beef brisket.

But besides food, Epicurean Market will also appeal to the wine and spirit-lovers amongst you. With five bars and thirty five wine booths this year, including a ‘Kampung Bar’ serving up locally inspired cocktails to a Tanqueray Garden serving up beloved Gin and Tonics, there’s plenty of booze for whatever tastes tickle your fancy.

When you’re done eating, you can even kick your cooking skills up a notch with the complimentary Master Classes available at the fair when you book your tickets. It’s non-stop action as the masters from Michelin starred restaurants come together and give visitors tips on how you too can create tasty award-winning meals, or even how to make a home bar! You can even learn how to be a true taste master with the Connoisseur classes, which have returned from popular demand last year. With a total of 27 classes to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice picking classes between the likes of Tetsuya Wakuda (Waku Ghin), Nancy Silverton (Mozza) and Hide Yamamoto. Also look out for one of the big highlights of the fair – the Mystery Box Challenge where chef Sabrina Stillhart (Executive Chef of Bread Street Kitchen) will battle it out in a test of culinary skill against three-time winner Jonathan Kinsella (Executive Chef of db Bistro & Oyster Bar), while award-winning sommeliers Britt Ng from Bread Street Kitchen and Erwin Tang from Osteria Mozza will also battle it out in  the first-ever Blind Tasting Battle.

And of course, what would a food fair be if you can’t take home a piece of the proverbial pie with you? Check out the extended Farmer’s Market at the fair this year, and shop for the most artisanal of foodstuffs and produce from all over the world. In particular, look out for charcuterie and desserts by Épicerie Boulud, and unique cheeses by The Cheese Artisans, all of which are of course, freshly flown in at nearly wholesale prices.

At Epicurean Market 2017, you’re truly in for a feast for the senses as you wander the fair and try to take in all the culinary wonders it has to offer. It’s no wonder you’ll be needing a three day pass to get the most of the experience, so don’t waste time before it’s gone again for an entire year!
