A Festive Tale At One Farrer

If you think you hear jingle bells ringing, no, you’re not imagining things. Christmas comes early this year as one of our favourite homegrown hotels One Farrer Hotel and Spa reveals their lineup of food available during the festive period, not just for Christmas all the way to Chinese New Year 2018!

At a media party held last Wednesday, we were treated to a preview of the delights that will be available during each of the coming months, in addition to live entertainment from musical duo ShiLi and Adi (who’ve graced stages from the F1 Night Race to the Istana). One of the key components of One Farrer has always been their commitment to presenting quality farm to table inspired delicacies utilizing ingredients harvested from their very own on-site farm. The farm is enjoyed daily by hotel residents and patrons, covering an area of 11,000 square feet and cultivates a wide variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs perfect for garnishing with, and makes for a great gathering area as well.

One of the highlights of any Christmas has to be the roast turkey. One Farrer offers not one but TWO turkey options for guests this year, bringing back their crowd favourite Salt Encrusted Turkey, marinated with the farm’s very own thyme and oregano, along with the Roasted Traditional Turkey Percik Style, again marinated with herbs fresh from the farm such as Lemon Grass, Turmeric, Kaffir Lime Leaves and more. Both turkeys weigh 5kg, and are priced at S$148 each.

Meanwhile, be sure to also feast your eyes upon the Madeira Glazed Boneless Ham (2Kg, S$128) as well as the Slow baked Angus Prime Rib Rubbed with Farm Fresh Rosemary and Garlic (2.5kg, S$218). There’s practically no end to the amount of tasty, meaty delights that One Farrer has to offer (and we assure you, we’ve personally tasted them) and we’re already wondering how many we should be ordering for the entire family (or our own personal consumption!).

Besides these savoury treats, One Farrer’s Confectionary will also be offering up sweet treats to complete your meal such as the Jivara Chocolate Hazelnut Buche, Mango Bavarois Buche and Whisky Pear Almond Tarte. We were particularly taken with the Mango Bavarois Buche, a contemporary and refreshing twist on the traditional log cake that was full of flavour and delighted us to no end. But if you’re looking for something a little more traditional, One Farrer also offers up more typical Christmas fare, such as coffee stollen and fruit cake. You can even buy an entire handmade Gingerbread House to decorate your home with for just S$45 (and eat it once Christmas is over!)

If you’re interested in trying all these delicious foods without the hassle of taking them home though, from Wednesday 15th November 2017 to New Year’s Day 2018, guests can also choose to come down to visit the Escape Restaurant & Lounge to get a taste of all these goodies on offer and more, a perfect option for a family gathering during the holiday season. Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day Goodies

We know Chinese New Year isn’t for another couple of months, but hear us out: we know what it’s like to panic over finding good Chinese New Year options the moment Christmas ends (sometimes it feels like two entire months of feasting!) To avoid that dilemma, all you have to do is plan early, and One Farrer is so kiasu that yes, they’ve already got their entire February set all ready for ordering in advance!

But before Chinese New Year 2018 hits on 16th February, another, more Western holiday will arrive and be of significance to all the young lovebirds and married couples out there. Fret not if you haven’t gotten a Valentine’s Day gift, for the One Farrer Confectionary has prepared a beautiful Red Velvet Genoise with Dark Chocolate Ganache to make any heart flutter with joy.

Now, we can get into Chinese New Year proper. Going along with the Zodiac Year of the Dog, One Farrer has named their CNY theme for 2018 the Woofy Pow Wow Year of The Dog, and tins such as tea caddies will be appropriately decorated with cute puppies and other canine illustrations. But of course, we’re not here to talk about the decor; we came here for the food.

Besides the big ticket items such as the One Farrer Signature Yu Sheng (S$158-188) to our personal favourite – the excellent Wealthy Poon Choi (S$288-388), which comes with plenty of abalone, pork belly, prawns, fat choy and more, One Farrer also has a great selection of unique CNY snacks for purchase, from Salted Truffle Macadamia Nuts (S$20) to Bak Kwa Madeleines (S$25) to Golden Salted Egg Fish Skin (S$12), all of which were specially conceptualized by the culinary team for Lunar New Year and many of which feature ingredients harvested from the farm.
