LONDON – As part of the VAULT Festival 2019, the acclaimed Theatre Témoin are bringing in Edinburgh hit Feed to London, combining their signature, vibrant visual style to the world of click-bait culture, fake news and cyber gluttony.

Enter the stimulating world of Feed, where emotions are currency and your passions and fantasies will be indulged. For a price that is. A Palestinian woman takes a striking photograph of a boy while a journalist steals the image for an unrelated article. A blogger is moved to tears by the article and posts a tribute, before an SEO specialist makes the blogger’s tribute go viral. Now all four are caught in a media storm, in a swirling story that moves from reality to dark fantasy as the algorithms spin and deliver ‘what people want’. As we progress through these individual’s stories, we watch as they spiral out of control and get pulled into the madness of the digital world.

Says director Ailin Conant: “I think as a consumer I’m used to the idea that companies are after my money. But the moment you realise that your time and your feelings are for sale, and that companies will use your own arousal (be it anger or excitement or addiction) just to keep you on your screen… I start to feel like my body, my brain, my organism is being hijacked. This is the discomfort that drove us to create Feed.”

Unafraid of tackling important issues, Theatre Témoin are now using their surreal style interwoven with Bouffon physicality to explore the dark absurdity of today’s media landscape. Come watch Feed as it taps into the terrifying reality of how algorithms and capitalism are shaping the information we receive and consume online, and how this information is, in turn, shaping us.

Feed plays from 6th to 10th March 2019 at the VAULT Festival Crescent as part of VAULT Festival 2019. Tickets available here
