national-gallery-singapore-e1396845995825-700x407National Gallery Singapore and Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, have announced a first-ever partnership to broaden the appeal of art to a wider audience through novel offerings on the e-commerce platform. Shopee users will be able to donate Shopee Coins to the Gallery to support the museum’s mission of nurturing a thoughtful, creative and inclusive society through art, as well as enjoy exclusive membership offers from the Gallery.

The progressive partnership with Shopee furthers the Gallery’s push to collaborate with diverse partners and the public to create a museum that is for the people. Together, the Gallery and Shopee will bring exciting art experiences to new audiences, and inspire creativity and an interest in art in society. For Shopee users, the partnership offers the following benefits:

The Gallery will be listed as one of Shopee’s Charity Donation beneficiaries from 1 February to 30 April. Shopee users can donate their Shopee Coins to the Gallery and contribute to the impact the museum is making on society by supporting and uplifting communities through its art and arts programmes.

In the month of February, Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents will be able to purchase 1-for-1 Gallery Insider membership at a special price of $30 (usual price $60 for 2) on Shopee. Gallery Insiders get to enjoy up to $120 worth of benefits from unlimited access to the Gallery’s exciting line-up of exhibitions, as well as privileges and discounts for selected programmes, and up to 15% discount on unique museum merchandise and dining outlets at the Gallery.

To commemorate the Gallery’s 5th anniversary, the first 500 purchases of the Gallery Insider membership on Shopee will also come with gifts – two limited-edition tote bags and a pair of limited-edition Georgette Chen EZ-link cards.

Popular social media personality Aiken Chia will conduct a livestream walkthrough of the Gallery’s marquee exhibition, Georgette Chen: At Home in the World, with Gallery curator Lim Shujuan on 9 February, 9pm. Users can tune in to the livestream on Shopee Live, Shopee’s in-app livestreaming feature, and look forward to the Gallery’s limited-edition 5th anniversary merchandise given out during the livestream

Mr Kola Luu, Director, Partnership Development, National Gallery Singapore said: “As National Gallery Singapore marks its 5th anniversary, we are renewing our commitment to make art accessible and inclusive to everyone. Together with the public and our partners, we hope to create a museum that is for the people; one that uplifts the community through art. It is extremely heartening for us therefore, to find a like-minded and forward-looking collaborator in Shopee. Through our innovative partnership, we hope more people will come to know of and enjoy the Gallery’s wealth of exciting offerings and pay it forward so that others can also experience the positive impact of the arts.”

Tiger Wang, Head of Marketing, Shopee Singapore said: “At Shopee, we recognise the importance of art and culture on our society – especially in its capacity to unite and inspire. As e-commerce becomes increasingly integrated in all our lives, Shopee remains committed to using our platform for initiatives that advocate the appreciation of art and bring local communities together. We are excited to partner with the Gallery and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration.”
