Local theatre company Toy Factory Productions Ltd has released NOWstreaming@TOY, a video-on-demand streaming service featuring stage recordings of their past plays via Vimeo On Demand.

Exploring an array of themes and narratives, Toy Factory is set to launch the first of its 6 planned titles on 5th March, with the critically-acclaimed Titoudao. With more plays released on its Vimeo platform every month, viewers can expect to see classics like Purple, PRISM and Hokkien musical Sometime Moon.

“We are bringing back a variety of our past staged productions that our devoted audiences have shown so much love and support for. There are plays for everyone – plays about love, history and even musicals for different ages and genders to enjoy,” says Toy Factory’s Chief Artistic Director Goh Boon Teck.

Titoudao in particular, was chosen as the first play to kick off the series, as one of Toy Factory’s most revered plays. Written and directed by Goh Boon Teck, Titoudao has received multiple stagings across the years, both locally and even abroad. Not to mention, the musical has also recently received a television adaptation, and was screened on local televison, and gives those who could only experience the TV series a chance to relive the 2015 staging via Vimeo.

“Titoudao is a play that is close to my heart, as it is a poignant story inspired by my mother, Mdm Oon Ah Chiam, a renowned Chinese street opera (Wayang) performer. Moreover, our audiences love Titoudao so much that they always ask us whether we will be re-staging it anytime soon,” says Boon Teck.

Titoudao (2015) will be available from 5th March, Innamorati II (2016) and Sometime Moon (2018) from 9th April, Purple (2012) and GRIND (2016) from 7th May, and PRISM (2017) from 11th June. Rent the plays on Toy Factory’s Vimeo page here
