Singaporean indie-folk singer-songwriter, Amanda Ong, announces the release of her latest single, ‘Biar Ku Bersendiri’, available now on all major streaming platforms. Originally written in English (titled ‘Leave Me Alone’), she entered the song into the Gala Laga 2020 Open Call and became a finalist. The song was then translated and produced for Wisma Geylang Serai’s Third Gala Laga Festival

When the opportunity presented itself, Amanda was raring to go. “It seemed daunting when the team first asked if I was able to translate some parts of the song into Malay,” she recollects, “but I’ve always been eager to learn or sing in new languages, so I was up for the challenge!” Lyrics such as ‘semakin lama hatiku bermula tak merasa apa-apa’ detail the degree of ambiguous emotions that Amanda struggles to untangle. By channeling her thoughts onto the canvas of her music, she allows herself to find clarity through song.

In the next six months, Amanda plans to release three more singles leading up to her second EP in September 2021. This EP plays around with the idea of self-reflective thoughts from her time abroad in Melbourne.
