The Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) continues to prioritise the safety and well-being of artists, patrons and staff. In light of the latest Safe Management Measures (SMMs) advisories announced on 14 May, the following live performances will be cancelled:
Be Comforted Now: Bach Cantatas (16th May, Sunday, 5pm, Victoria Concert Hall)
Before Life and After part of Compassion: Chamber Music Series (21st May, Friday, 7.30pm, Chamber, Festival House)
Echoes of Fire and Water part of Compassion: Chamber Music Series (23rd May, Sunday, 3pm & 6pm, Chamber, Festival House)
Nature of Daylight part of Compassion: Chamber Music Series (23rd May, Sunday, 5pm, Esplanade Concert Hall)
A Thousand Ways Part III: An Assembly (21st to 23rd May, SOTA Drama Theatre)
The Commission (16th May, Sunday, 2pm & 5pm, The Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre @ Wild Rice, Funan)
In addition, the capacity of Oldham Theatre will be reduced to 33, which previously had a maximum capacity of 50. This will affect some films in the Singular Screens lineup. SIFA’s ticketing agent, SISTIC, will be in touch with patrons who are affected by these cancellations and reductions in capacity for ticket refunds.
Additionally, patrons who will be receiving refunds for The Commission will receive a complimentary ticket to watch the show via SIFA On Demand, which will be available for viewing on SISTIC LIVE from 5th to 12th June 2021. For the remaining live performances, SIFA is currently in discussions with the relevant authorities. An announcement will be made shortly regarding these further changes.
To carry on showcasing the works of the SIFA artists in the spirit of resilience, audiences are encouraged to continue supporting SIFA digitally throughout the festival period. Some of the real-time virtual productions that audiences can catch from the comfort of their homes include The Journey; As Far As Isolation Goes; To Gathering: Laying the Table Bare; From Mee To You; and the Impossible Conversation series. During each one of these shows, participants can look forward to having direct interactions with the artists.
All eight Festival Commissions and selected performances from SIFA v2.020, as well as selected films from the Singular Screens line-up will be available on SIFA-On-Demand from 31st May to 12th June 2021 on SISTIC LIVE. More information is available on sifa.sg.
