Located right in the heart of Singapore, Telok Ayer is a bastion of heritage, with shophouses, temples and intriguing back alleys galore. If you ever wanted to learn more about these places, now’s your chance, as new tour re:walk Telok Ayer arrives this February.
Created with the support of the STB-NAC Performing Arts Tours Pilot Grant, which supports the development and test-bedding of innovative performing arts tours by tour operators and arts practitioners, re:walk Telok Ayer marks the first collaboration between tour company DOIT.SG and ‘secret experience’ company Secretive Thing, as they take you on a journey through Telok Ayer. Not only does it introduce you to the district itself, re:walk Telok Ayer will go beyond an ordinary walk in the park to unearth the hidden stories of the area, with contemplative vignettes.
Get ready to explore places like the now defunct Telok Ayer Performing Arts Centre, Ann Siang Hill, Thian Hock Keng Temple, and other pedestrian locales, as you listen to stories about food, community and loss. Featuring Lim Chin Huat (former Artistic Director of ECNAD), actor Timothy Nga, musician mm_mmatt, DOIT.SG tour guide and owner Tricia Lui, and film camera experts Brandon Ong and Phoebe Chin (Founders of OKB.SG), join them in an audiovisual experience through narrow streets and back alleys.
One ticket will gain you exclusive access to 2 walking journeys, each approximately 30 minutes in duration. Afterwards, you will receive a free Photowalk experience that you can do anytime with a friend, where OKB.SG leads you through the lens of your camera. If you enjoy your coffee black and walking on the mild side, this is one journey that’s specially for you.
re:walk Telok Ayer runs on 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 & 27 February 2022. Tickets available from Eventbrite
