Preview: End of the Rainbow by Pangdemonium!

Following successful stagings of The Glass Menagerie and Muswell Hill, local theatre company ends off their 2022 season with hit Broadway and West End musical End of the Rainbow, charting the final days in the life of legendary songbird, Judy Garland. The play was also adapted for the 2019 Golden Globe BAFTA and OSCAR winning movie Judy, starring Renée Zellweger.

Written by Peter Quilter and directed by Tracie Pang, End of the Rainbow is set in London, 1968, where Judy Garland is set to make her comeback again. With her new fiancé and loyal friend and pianist by her side, she seems determined to reclaim her crown. As demands of the Talk of the Town concerts take its toll on her, Garland goes into a downward spiral fuelled by a tornado of drugs and alcohol. Over the course of End of the Rainbow, we meet a woman-child who was adored by millions all over the world, with so much love to share, but who was also exploited, abused and then abandoned. We also witness her struggle to find love, happiness and rediscovering her place in this world.

Starring Mina Kaye as Judy Garland, alongside a cast comprising Shane Mardjuki, TJ Taylor and Andrew Marko, End of the Rainbow is a powerful and at times hilarious exploration of the tormented heart and troubled mind of a truly unique individual, whose fragile soul was exchanged for fame and fortune…and then ultimately notoriety and destitution. Join Pangdemonium as they bring you a night of madness and mayhem, music and magic.

End of the Rainbow runs from 7th to 23rd October 2022 at the Drama Centre Theatre. Tickets and more information available here.
