This March, Pangdemonium Theatre Company is set to present a restaging of Deanna Jent’s Falling. Playing to sold-out houses and unanimous acclaim in their 2016 run, Falling has been repeatedly requested for a revival, with this being the year it finally happens.
Follow ordinary parents Tami and Bill as they navigate the extraordinary journey of raising two teenage kids – Lisa, 16, full of attitude and angst; and Josh, an 18- year-old boy who is profoundly autistic, portrayed by the extraordinary Andrew Marko.
Falling unveils a family’s delicate balancing act, revolving around Josh’s routines, obsessions, and the rigid set of rules meticulously crafted to navigate each day. As ordinary tasks become monumental challenges, their lives take an unexpected turn when the delicate balance is shattered by the arrival of a visitor, posing a literal matter of life and death for this family.
Directed by Tracie Pang, Falling promises to be a riveting theatrical experience that will resonate with audiences, fostering a deeper understanding of the human experience and a parent’s capacity for unconditional love. The script sheds light on the resilience, sacrifices, and unwavering love required when faced with the challenges of raising a child with autism.
Reprising his role from 2016, Andrew Marko is once again set to deliver a compelling performance as Josh, offering a heartfelt portrayal of an autistic individual. Joining him are new cast members Karen Tan, Dwayne Lau, Lok Meng Chue and Rebecca Ashley Dass as members of this family, adding a fresh and exciting spin to this story.
Don’t miss the opportunity to witness this powerful exploration of family, love, and resilience. Falling opens 8 to 24 March 2024, at Singtel Waterfront Theatre, Esplanade.
