Arts of Hong Kong 2025: M+ Museum Shop debuts at the Hong Kong International Airport, with the pre-launch special exhibition merchandise

HONG KONG – M+, Asia’s global museum of contemporary visual culture in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK) in Hong Kong, is pleased to announce the opening of M+ Museum Shop at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The shop features a thoughtful selection of publications and merchandise on contemporary visual culture for travellers from across the globe. The 800-square-feet outpost is conveniently located at the Departures Level of Terminal 1, near Gate 40 of HKIA.

To create a welcoming shopping environment for travellers as their final stop in Hong Kong, the interior design of the M+ Museum Shop aligns with M+’s dynamic visual identity and embraces vibrant colours that spark inspiration. The centrepiece of the shop, inspired by the iconic Hong Kong skyline, pays homage to the city’s unique architectural landscape and reflects M+’s central location in the city. Composed of four interlocking ‘plus (+)’ signs, the structure of the centerpiece of the shop reflects M+ as a captivating intersection where contemporary visual culture, creativity, innovation and well-being meet.

The M+ Museum Shop at the HKIA offers a uniquely curated selection of merchandise from the M+ Core Collection, including apparel, daily essentials, stationery, tableware and kitchenware for both adults and children. Selected travel must-haves for the airport shop include the M+ Geometric Foldable Backpack, M+ Monogram Foldable Shopper and M+ Travel Cases. To share with global travellers Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage, the M+ publication Hong Kong Visual Culture: The M+ Guide is available in both English and Chinese editions at the new shop, offering an enlightening journey through the rich M+ Collections and the city’s cultural spaces.

To coincide with the opening of M+ Special Exhibition The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Picasso for Asia—A Conversation in mid-March 2025, the new M+ Museum Shop is pre-launching a series of exhibition special merchandise inspired by Picasso’s work, including travel pillows, folders and magnets today. In addition, an exclusive collection of collaborative products featuring Tanaami Keiichi’s Pleasure of Picasso series is available now.

To celebrate the opening of M+ Museum Shop, from now until Monday, 31 March 2025, customers will receive a complimentary gift upon any purchase of HKD 500 or above at the new shop.

Suhanya Raffel, Museum Director, M+, says, ‘The launch of M+ Museum Shop at the HKIA marks a significant milestone for M+ Retail and extends the museum’s reach beyond its physical location. Comprising two retail shops in the museum, the online M+ Shop, and this newly opened M+ Museum Shop, M+ Retail builds the M+ brand as cultural currency. These various M+ retail products enhance the understanding and appreciation of contemporary visual culture and cultivate a visual culture community in Hong Kong and Asia.’
