Preview: UOB unveils tallest countdown projection show in ASEAN

UOB is bringing art, light and joy to the heart of Singapore with two spectacular projection mapping displays from 18 December 2025 to 1 January 2026. The displays, themed “Sharing Joy, Celebrating with our Communities”, was inspired by the spirit of giving back to our community and will illuminate the 280-metre façade of UOB Plaza 1 – the tallest countdown projection show in ASEAN.

With this projection mapping show, the countdown excitement will extend from the Marina Bay area to the Singapore River for the first time. The nightly shows held from 8pm to 10.30pm will spotlight Southeast Asia’s art scene and pay tribute to the hopes and ambitions that inspire, connect, and unite communities, and the Bank’s purpose of Building the Future of ASEAN.

Festive Show (18 December 2025 to 25 December 2025): The Festive show celebrates our community and the giveback efforts across ASEAN in conjunction with UOB’s 90th anniversary. It will begin with a UOB Gives Back Heartbeat Show featuring a tapestry of community initiatives throughout UOB90 woven together with inspiring artworks by artists with disabilities from Extra•Ordinary People. Following that, the building will be illuminated with a canvas of colourful art pieces from the 2025 UOB Painting of the Year competition. This experience reflects the spirit of giving and inclusivity while symbolising a flourishing future together.

Countdown Show (26 December 2025 to 1 January 2026): In conjunction with the Urban Redevelopment Authority and The Fullerton Hotel Singapore’s Brightening Lives show, the Tomorrow with UOB show, which will reimagine UOB Plaza as a futuristic portal that takes the audience on a journey into a universe of possibilities, inviting the audience to aspire for a future Singapore that continues to thrive. Thereafter, the audiences can marvel at the intricate artworks from the UOB POY competition. In addition, an exhilarating countdown show will be held on 31 December 2025 on both the UOB Plaza 1 façade and Fullerton Hotel, extending the countdown excitement to the Singapore River for the first time, as we usher in the new year.

Ms Janet Young, Head, Group Channels and Digitalisation, Strategic Communications and Brand, UOB, said: “The show is a celebration of unity, creativity and hope – and it is our way of giving back, by creating memorable experiences that connect and uplift our communities through sharing the festive joy. As we round up an eventful year marking UOB’s 90th anniversary and forge ahead into 2026, we will continue to make a positive impact in the areas of art, children and education across ASEAN, to light up a brighter future for all.”

One of the artworks in show is that of Mr Justin Lee, a Singaporean artist who won the Gold Award at the 2025 UOB Painting of the Year, Established Artist Category. His artwork, My Tiles and Yellow Lines, explores the impact of urban and rural development on natural habitats. Mr Lee said, “I am excited and honoured to be part of the projection show. With the visual metaphors of persistence such as repeated patterns, layered textures and rebuilt forms, I hope to inspire resilience and encourage all to face the future with courage.”

Mr Charlie Lim, local singer-songwriter and Music Director of the UOB Gives Back Heartbeat Show had paired the show with the soundtrack “Here We Are (Elijah version)”, a special rendition of the National Day theme song, “Here We Are”. The acoustic version was written in honour of Elijah, a late cancer child patient, who loved the song. All proceeds from this rendition of the song will go towards the Children’s Cancer Foundation, to support the children with cancer and their families. Mr Lim said, “Music and visual art both have a unique way of speaking directly to empathy. My hope is that as people listen to the rendition of this song and see these artworks by our artists with special needs together, they are reminded of our shared humanity, vulnerability and dignity during this festive season.”

This is the second projection mapping show that UOB has done this year. The first show took place in August celebrating SG60 and UOB90, which earned three Guinness World Records titles: Largest Light Output in a Projected Image, Longest Architectural Projection-Mapped Display and the Highest Projection Image on a Building. For an optimal view of the projection mapping shows, audiences are encouraged to head to the riverfront area in front of the Asian Civilisations Museum, Cavenagh Bridge, or Anderson Bridge.
