Christmas is about to get a whole lot fishier as the S.E.A. Aquarium rings in a brand new Merry Fishmas this December!

Running throughout the entire month of December, Merry Fishmas sees the S.E.A. Aquarium transform into an underwater Christmas wonderland, with plenty of innovative decor and good cheer throughout the exhibition space. But as with any and every S.E.A. Aquarium activity (like how they did with Halloween), it’s not just about the holiday spirit: there’s a keen environmental edge to it as well, as families discover more about the ocean’s residents and learn about the importance of conservation.

Recently, the S.E.A. Aquarium has even stepped up their own efforts to promote environment care – now, they no longer sell bottled water, but instead, stock water stored in tetrapaks instead! And as always, they continue to promote their fabulous Guardians of the S.E.A.A. programme, encouraging members to participate in regular cleanup activities and gather to practice environmental wellness together. Recently, the Guardians even brought an observation tank with some of the aquarium’s inhabitants all the way out to Tanjong Pagar CC, allowing the public to get an even more immersive educational experience.

Collect stamps to redeem a free reusable water bottle!

As you make your way through the aquarium, there’ll be various interactive games for all the family to enjoy, taking on themes of reducing, reusing and recycling waste in order to promote better ocean care. After collecting stamps of sea creatures along the way, participants can even redeem a free reusable water bottle at the end of their journey, while they can also purchase a tote bag at $5 and decorate it with paints and stamps at ‘Santa’s Workshop’ at the Ocean Gallery. Grumpy old Scrooge will even be around to teach visitors how to have make Christmas ornaments in the form of origami fish, folded with recyclable paper!

Once you reach the Ocean Gallery, you’ll also be rewarded with a gorgeous view of the sea creatures as they float gracefully through the water. But plan your visit well, and you might even get to catch some of the specially arranged ‘performances’ available. Look out for Manta Moments, as divers plunge into the waters and ‘dance’ with the graceful and gentle Manta Rays that love to play with humans. And for something a little more fun, stay tuned for the crazy elves, as divers don colourful elf and Santa costumes designed by local label Moephosis, and get up to some underwater mischief disobeying their boss and posing for photos.

Finally, look out for a real life Santa and his elves waiting in the dome, as delighted children gather round to hear him tell stories. Adults will have just as much fun as the kids posing for photos and indulging in the holiday spirit while learning all about the wonders of the ocean and how to save it. You might even get a chance to meet some of the S.E.A. Aquarium’s latest mascots, an adorable manta ray named Mai who’ll be more than happy to give you a hug.
