This November, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) presents a masterful concert featuring cello pieces by Dvořák. Starring the SSO Principal Cello Ng Pei-Sian, get yourself ready for an evening listening to music of magisterial demeanour and melodic magnificence.
Conducted by Bulgarian conductor Pavel Baleff, who is also chief conductor of the Philharmonie Baden-Baden and last conducted the SSO in their Diana Damrau gala last November, this concert will feature some of Dvořák’s best known pieces, namely Carnival Overture, Op. 92, Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 and of course, the ever popular Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 “From the New World”.
Awarded Commonwealth Musician of the Year in 2007, as well as being the winner of the Gold Medal and First Prize at the 55th Royal Overseas League Music Competition held in London, Ng Pei-Sian is an outstanding cellist who promises to do justice to Dvořák while putting his own style and pouring emotion into his performance. Get ready for an evening of Dvořák to remember as the SSO presents Dvořák Cello Concerto.
